Thank you for your interest in Open Minds Language Immersion Preschool.  We are Spanish immersion preschool located in San Diego. Our goal is to create a language immersion preschool experience that is safe, fun, enriching, and enhances your child’s education.

Program Hours

The SKDA site is loosely aligned with the Catholic school calendar. The preschool day runs from 8:45-2:45 with before and after preschool care every day. The Beth Jacobs site is loosely aligned with the SDUSD Traditional schedule. The preschool day runs from 9:15-3:15 with before and after care every day.

Program Options

We offer the four program options to fit your needs of 5 days per week down to 2 days per week. We also offer preschool camps during most of the school breaks.

A Day at School

Throughout the day, we help our students to:

Play creatively

Build early academic skills

Form friendships and practice their social skills

Build Spanish and French language skills

Enjoy the learning process in a playful way

Increase their social-emotional skills

Exercise their gross motor skills with active play

Strengthen fine motor skills with detailed projects

Create art in some way every day

Experiment with science

Learn letters, numbers and pre-reading skills

Build the love of reading with engaging story time

Dance and play with classmates and teachers

Act with care for others

OpenMinds Spanish Immersion Preschool

Ms. Karen graduated from with a degree in education from her studies in Mexico.   She is a lead teacher and has a focus on supporting the younger students with language and math projects.  She also helps with office duties and site needs when not working directly with the students.

Ms. Argiris is the teacher’s aid and she helps out in all of the classrooms.  Her focus is on building early classroom skills for the children helping to creating a loving classroom experience.  Argiris is just starting to build her skills and is a great addition to the team

Ms. Jessica is the lead teacher for the 3-5 classroom.  She develops great art and science units for the students.  She is also focused on supporting the older students with language and math projects.  Jessica is a very creative teacher and her preschool training and her first 10 years of teaching was completed in Mexico.

OpenMinds Spanish Immersion Preschool

Ms. Judith has an undergraduate degree in Psychology from SDSU and a MA in Expressive Arts Therapy from the European Graduate School.  She is the Director of Operations at OpenMinds and helps as a lead teacher as needed.  She is a committed teacher and builds great relationships with both students and parents.

Ms. Lina is the lead teacher for the 2/3 classroom at the Beth Jacobs preschool site.  Her focus is on building early classroom skills and creating a loving classroom experience.  Lina has done her early childhood development training in San Diego.

Ms. Heidy is the lead teacher in the Toddler classroom.  She is fluent in Spanish and a very creative teacher.  Her preschool training and experience was completed in both Mexico and the USA.

Ms. Milagros helps out in all of the preschool classrooms.  She is from Peru and has taken many classes in child development.  She helps as both a class assistant and will sub in as a lead teacher with others are on vacation.  She is creative, loves to dance, and is a very fun teacher!

Ms. Susan has been working with OpenMinds for almost one year.  She is the assistant teacher for the Toddler classroom and  helps to plan and prep art projects, reads stories in Spanish, teaches writing and math, and joyfully assists with all of the student’s day to day needs.

Ms. Christine is founder of OpenMinds and works closely with all of the staff to be sure each of the programs are well supported, and works to meet  student, teacher, and parent needs both big and small.  She has a degree in business administration, a MA in organization development and is slowly working on a PhD in Positive Developmental Psychology.
